My name is Dina. I’m from Minnesota and like many during quarantine have decided to finally try something new (this blog!). I have been interested in tea for a long time. It all started with my interest in Japan when I was still a kid. My family hosted a few students from Japan and I became so fascinated with the culture that eventually I was able to visit and of course encountered the tea ceremony. Besides my interest in matcha, I even grew to love the many bottled teas of Japan. I loved that they weren’t loaded with sugar and still retained the lovely umami notes that were so lacking in many bottled teas in the states. Having tried many teas that have been freshly brewed since then, I have come to appreciate the art and science behind a good cup of tea. I used to think tea was just from bags and had overly fruity flavors with not much nuance. I am happy to say that tea is one of my biggest passions now.
I am working towards getting my tea sommelier certificate. While I am very passionate about tea, I realize that I will never truly be an “expert”. I know that there is far too much to learn about tea or anything else for that matter. Rather, I am striving to learn as much as I can everyday and especially to connect to other tea people all over the world. My hope is that I can learn and exchange information with people who have a similar background or interest to me. I am looking forward to experimenting with tea, whether with recipes or even different methods of brewing. Of course, I expect with time this blog will take me to new and unexpected places, so I look forward to exploring.
I love all kinds of tea, but my favorites are greens and oolongs. Tell me in the comments how you got into tea and what you might expect from a good tea blog. What is your favorite type of tea? I can’t wait to expand my tea knowledge and get to know all of you through this fantastic topic!
I hope to steep some leaves with you soon 🙂
